FREE Tax Preparation

The Ohio County Tax Assistance Project will provide FREE & FAST (e-filing) tax help for you and your family - because the money should go into YOUR pocket!

If your household income was less than $39,783 in 2007 you may be eligible to receive the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).  The credit could pay you as much as $4,536 based on your earnings and family situation.  You may also qualify for other Credits and Refunds.

Earned Income Tax Credit is a refundable federal tax credit designed to reduce the tax burdens on low-income families.  The EITC helps give them a boost in take-home pay that helps offset higher childcare and transportation costs incurred as they strive to become economically self-sufficient.

Unfortunately, studies estimate that 20% of the EITC dollars owed to working families go unclaimed each year.  For Ohio County, that means as many as 700 residents may be missing out on as much as $750,000 in EITC refunds!

The Ohio County Income Tax Assistance Project provides free tax preparation assistance to local families with annual incomes meeting federally set minimums.  For more information, contact the library at 270-298-3790 to set up an appointment.

NOTE: The Staff at the Ohio County Public Library DOES NOT provide assistance.  The Library only provides space for the Ohio County Income Tax Assistance personnel to meet and assist tax payers.
