Programs for Children

The Ohio County Public Library offers programming for children from ages 0-18 throughout the year. Programs are divided into 3 session: spring, summer, and fall.

Programs include:

Mother Goose Time
  • A monthly program for infants 0-23 months old.  The infant and caregiver enjoy nursery rhymes, games, crafts, stories, and singing.  At the conclusion of the program, the infant and adult share a read-together time.

Toddler Time
  • A lapsit program for the toddler and caregiver.  Stories, finger plays, singing, and games fill a thirty minute session for two year olds.  The last ten minutes allow an adult and child to have a quality reading time and to check out library books together.

Story Time
  • This program is for three and a half, four, and five year old children.  The programs is a forty minute session consisting of read-a-loud stories and extended stories.  The children will also play games, participate in finger plays and/or songs, and make a craft.

After-school Programs
  • Each month the library offers two after-school programs.  K-3rd graders enjoy program activities related to a fun theme.  The Crazy Cool Kids Book Club is for 4th-6th grades.  Each program offers a fun filled hour for both girls and boys with storytelling, book sharing, crafts, game playing, and skits.  Enjoyable for all ages and always book related.

Summer Reading
  • An hour long program for the school age child in the summertime.  This program has the same type of activities featured in the After-school Program with a summer long theme.

Book Buddy Program
  • A summer youth volunteer program.  This program pairs teenage volunteers with 3, 4, and 5 year old reading partners.  This five week summer program allows small children an opportunity to be read to by a buddy while promoting volunteerism among the youth of the county.

NOTICE: Library programs are cancelled if there is no school.
